Collage

I’ve selected two of my favourite collage pieces to share with you. Collaging is one of my happy places, I don’t tend to overthink when I create, but slip into a flow state, piecing together what looks and feels right.

Growing up in an immigrant Italian household, I've always been drawn to old-world culture and traditions, simple countryside living, and the idea of slowing down.

This piece came together, from a collection of old National Geographic magazines, around tradition and places on the other side of the world that move slower than we do.

In honour of Uncle Peter.

He's the reason I shoot film and started travelling. A man of many talents, who lived in a log cabin in the woods, and was a loveable mailman to his community. Before he passed, his goal was to fix up his Volkswagen bus and drive down to visit me in Colorado.

Made on a plank of wood, using bits of his own film photos and collection of stamps, I wanted this piece to have as much an essence of him as it could.

This piece is a memorial — his spirit, his adventure, the trip he never got to take.
